Single Dental Implants
Patients can lose a tooth for various reasons, whether from gum disease and decay, or an impact in an accident.
Even a single missing tooth can have significant aesthetic and clinical impacts. The face in the region of the missing tooth can appear ‘sunken’, and you may have difficulties in biting and chewing certain food.
A single tooth treatment is an excellent solution. They look and feel like natural teeth, fill out the face to its natural appearance, and prevent the tendency of neighbouring teeth to shift to fill the gap left by the missing tooth.
In most cases, a single tooth implant can be placed immediately, and a temporary crown will be attached to fill the gap in your mouth.
The implant integrates with your jaw bone over a healing period of three to six months. Your dentist will then fit the permanent replacement tooth and advise you of any follow-up appointments that may be required.
Multiple Dental Implants
Dental implants can also be used to replace several missing teeth. And the great news is that one implant can support more than a single replacement tooth.
This also makes permanent dental implant therapy a more affordable solution for patients who have lost multiple teeth.
Dental implants do not require support from adjacent natural teeth, look like natural teeth and are easy to care for with good dental hygiene.
Unlike non-implant supported bridges or partial dentures, implants partially replace missing tooth roots by integrating with the jaw bone that surrounded those roots.
Dental implants maintain the health of the jaw bone by integrating with it and avoid the loosening effect that arises from resorbed bone and sinking of the jaw.
As with Single Tooth Implants, once a plan has been agreed, the necessary implants are placed in your jaw and a temporary bridge or crowns fitted on top. This is left to heal for three to six months. After the area has fully healed, your permanent crown or bridge will be fixed on top.
