Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz).

This treatment immediately and visibly minimises the appearance of fine lines, acne scarring and wrinkles by removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair.

Dermaplaning is a physical/mechanical exfoliation that is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained skin care practitioner using the appropriate tools and products.

No, this is impossible physiologically. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow back slowly, usually in about 4 weeks.

Dermaplaning is performed on the face and neck only.

Dermaplaning can be performed every 3 to 4 weeks. During treatment, the practitioner usually removes 3 to 4 weeks worth of dead skin cells.

Patients over 35 years of age are usually ideal for this treatment due to having dryer skin types. Men can be treated on no-beard areas only.

Those who cannot be treated include:

  • Patients with acne
  • Patients with very oily skin
  • Cancer patients undergoing treatment
  • Patients with bleeding or clotting disorders
  • Patients with diabetes that is not controlled by either medication or diet

Your skin professional will discuss post-procedure skincare following the treatment to help soothe, calm and protect the skin.
