Originally from Troon on the Ayrshire coast in Scotland, Chris graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2004, before working in general dental practice around central Scotland until 2019, when he joined the team at Shields Dental & Implant Clinic.
Chris has always been a keen advocate of postgraduate education, which initially lead him to attain Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006 by examination. He has remained active in professional development, completing courses in:
- Dental Implants, which he has been providing since 2009, and is currently undertaking a Masters degree in the field at The College of Medicine and Dentistry.
- Cosmetic and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry, which he attained a Certificate in under the tutelage of Dr. Christopher Orr, one of the UK’s leading cosmetic dentists, in London in 2011
- Intravenous Sedation to help manage nervous patients
- Invisalign (removable discrete braces)
Every year Chris attends several conferences and courses, some of which have been as far away as the West Coast of the United States, South Africa and Russia, in order to stay on top of the latest developments in dentistry. He is also due to embark on the continuum lead by Dr. John Kois, one of the world’s leading prosthodontists (restorative specialists).
He is an active member of the Association of Dental Implantology (UK), and the Academy of Osseointegration, both leading organisations in the field of dental implantology.
Outside of dentistry Chris enjoys the cinema, dining out with his wife and walking his three border collies. For his sins, he follows the Glasgow Celtic football team and the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland national rugby teams.
