Meet the Team.

Dr Conor Shields

Dental Surgeon & Clinical Director
DS RCS (Eng1994); BDS (Lond 1994); DRDP (Lond 2004)

Conor and Cormac hail from Dungannon, Co Tyrone, where their father and grandfather practised as dental surgeons. They graduated from the Royal London Hospital in 1994, and ran a private practice in London until 2005.

In that year, the brothers established Shields Dental & Orthodontic Clinic in Limerick, a decision influenced by the Shields family’s historic connections with the city.
Since then, the treatments on offer at the practice have evolved, always apace with the latest developments in dentistry, due to Conor’s and Cormac’s active pursuit of postgraduate studies.

In 2004 they both attained the Diploma in Restorative Dental Practice from the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute, and they offer an extremely high level of experience in restorative and aesthetic disciplines, including the replacement of missing teeth with implants. They both have an interest in cosmetic techniques and the smile line. Cormac also has vast experience in treating facial pain/migraines/grinding and runs a daily oral/facial pain clinic in the practice.

In 1997, Conor was awarded a Diploma in Conscious Sedation by Guy’s Hospital, and he has extensive experience in providing gaseous and intravenous sedation for anxious and phobic patients. The principals are members of the ADI (Association of Dental Implantology) and the BACD (British Academy of Cosmetic Dentists), BSOS, associations dedicated to the excellence of their disciplines.
