Needle Mesotherapy

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a technique which uses injections of vitamins, enzymes, hormones and plant extracts to rejuvenate and tighten skin, as well as remove excess fat.

This infusion of savvy ingredients nourishes and rejuvenates the skin while also stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, both essential for skin’s natural elasticity.

The technique uses very fine needles to deliver a series of injections into the middle layer (mesoderm) of the skin.

The idea behind mesotherapy is that it corrects underlying issues like poor circulation and inflammation which cause skin damage.

Your Practitioner will apply a numbing medicine to your skin. You’ll get a series of injections using a special short needle. The needle may be attached to a mechanical gun to deliver many injections in a row.

The injections can be given at different depths — from 1 to 4 millimetres into your skin — depending on what condition you’re having treated.

Each injection may only place a tiny drop of the solution into your skin.

When you go to a trained practitioner like we have here at Shields, the risks are minimal.

Side effects that have been reported include:

  • nausea
  • pain
  • sensitivity
  • swelling
  • itching
  • redness
  • bruising
  • bumps at the injection site
  • dark patches of skin
  • rash
  • infection
  • scars

Needle Mesotherapy treatment is a 45-minute appointment.

Patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. Some swelling and bruising may occur at the injection site; these side effects tend to dissipate within the first week after treatment.

Your skin professional will discuss post-procedure skincare following the treatment to help soothe, calm and protect the skin.
